Numbers and GDP on drugs
I am constantly surprise how we need numbers to confirm our twisted biases. We love numbers for its definiteness and for that reason we are easily fooled by fake reality they often represent. We believe it as we believe simple math where 1 + 1 = 2 but sometimes we don't distinguish these two totally different disciplines. Numbers as a tool of math are great but if the calculus is not telling us the full truth then it can become as empty as financial market gossips of your hairdresser. As one of many here is a classic example of "GDP on steroids" and it is not just happening in the US. It has become a daily routine around the globe to hide behind altered results.
