Sustaining a focus in low volatility environment
It is the act of focusing–and sustaining a focus–that turns mere seeing into perceiving.
Great post from Dr Steenbarger, Ph.D. about different emotions while trading. The lack of focus on good plays in a low volatility enviornment is currently my biggest wekness I am dealing with. It effects my P&L and one way of coping with it for me is this:
- every morning setup a list of TOP PLAYS you would like to tackle
- set the alerts on top levels
- check every hour if there is a play developing which you missed while preparing or that is just emerging
- execute the prepared PLAN when the alert notifies you
Today I was chasing a trade which didn’t exist and I lost. Although I have come out as a winner today, I can’t call it a successful day.
