10 000hours rule matters … but so does your hardware

What is 10 000 hours rule? It is a term mentioned in the book Outliers, where Malcolm Gladwell presents a 10 000 hours as a time which is neccessary to get good at more complex tasks like playing musical instrument , tennis, poker etc.

According to David Epstein, Gladwell’s 10 000 hours rule matter but so does your physical structure aka hardware:

I think practice is a miracle. For example, I think I could take any human being who has functioning legs and lungs and train them to run a marathon in six months. I don’t think I could train them to run two hours and 20 minutes in the marathon in six months, but I think I could train them to finish.
